Did You Know You Can Use Amazon Even If You Don’t Sell a Product? Farnham Agency Unites Surrey Business Community for Grant-Funded Summit
Unicorn Orange Media Labs: The Surrey Business Amazon Growth Summit brings Surrey business owners together with local entrepreneurs, academics and civic leaders at the Bush Hotel, Farnham on 16 September, closing a digital growth gap named in Surrey’s own Economic Growth Strategy, and raising money for Young Enterprise along the way.
Farnham-based retail media agency Unicorn Orange has been awarded a £45,000 Business Growth Grant by Surrey County Council to launch the Unicorn Media Lab.
The event launches publicly with Unicorn Orange Media Labs: The Surrey Business Amazon Growth Summit, a day-long event for up to 150 Surrey business owners on Wednesday 16 September at the Bush Hotel, Farnham. Tickets cost £10.25 including booking fee, with net proceeds donated to Young Enterprise, a charity supporting over half a million young people a year to build financial confidence and entrepreneurial skills.
The day is built around a question most Surrey business owners have never considered: did you know you can use Amazon even if you don’t sell a product on it? Amazon DSP lets any business advertise to audiences across the wider web and streaming services, not just shoppers already on Amazon.co.uk, and it’s one of the more concrete places Surrey County Council’s Economic Growth Strategy 2025 to 2035 points to when it names a slowdown in business growth since the pandemic and a lack of digitisation as barriers holding local firms back.
Rather than a professional speaker circuit, the day is taught by Surrey business owners and specialists sharing their own experience: Rhodri Ferrier of Waken Mouthcare and Jessica Barnett of Logpile.com on their own Amazon growth stories, Ed Sweet ACA, co-founder of Unicorn Orange, on Amazon Marketing Cloud, and creative and marketing specialists Matt Brown of n-fuze, Daniel Chidley of Coachmotiv and Jarmila Yu of YUnique Marketing. They’re joined by Professor Lyndsay Duthie of UCA and Jim Sears of the University of Surrey on their research, and by Helene Hall of Surrey Chambers of Commerce, Tracey Carter of the Federation of Small Businesses, Surrey County Council and the Mayor of Farnham, Graham White.
At the close of the day, the Mayor of Farnham will draw four Surrey businesses live from the room, each winning a bespoke, professionally produced creative asset: photography, animation or graphic design: made free of charge by UCA students as part of the agency’s Creative Sprint programme. Professional creative production of this kind typically costs a small business several thousand pounds.
